Under the “iGlide” section of this blog is the ongoing updates of getting back to a pain free, more healthy existence.
When we moved into our house in late 2008,the house came with a Tony Little Gazelle.
It has sat in the workshop unused all this time.
Sometime last fall I hurt my foot, I don’t know how, or really when, I just know that one day it didn’t hurt, and the next day it hurt, and it has not stopped hurting since then.
I’ve been to the Dr. for it, but they say it is Fat Pad Syndrome, but even taping my heel does not stop the pain if I’m walking or standing on my foot for more than 20 minutes.
I eventually end up with terrible pain, a slightly swollen foot, and feeling like my heel is in a vice.
Then I get burning in my thigh from it.
I’m not sure but I think it is all due to an overall problem with the nerves in my shoulder, lower back and hips being pressed by bulging or pinching disks. I’m awaiting appointments with neurologists to pinpoint the exact cause of the chronic shoulder pain, back numbness, leg and foot pain.
Anyway.. as a result of the pain, I cannot stand or walk for long. and my level of activity has slowed. Over this winter I’ve gained probably about 15 pounds, and I can’t exercise to lose it, or to maintain a healthier weight.
While searching for a low impact option for calorie burning exercises, I stumbled upon real everyday people with back, and foot pains, saying the Gazelle is perfect for them. Your feet stay still, there is no impact while raising your heart level high enough to burn calories properly.
So, I just took this week to clean out my office upstairs which has had unpacked boxes in it for over a year, and managed to get the Gazelle up the stairs into the office.
I just spent a fast test on it, for 15 minutes, the time I could normally not stand at the stove, or walk around a store for without pain, and my foot is fine! no pain from like trying to walk the block, and my hip is not sore, and my back is not numb!!!!
It’s a small thing….but for me I’m hoping it’s a big thing.
With audio books, I can go upstairs, lock myself away for a little while and do some fat burning exercises that won’t hurt me, and I can catch up on books and hopefully start feeling better.
