It's Good Morning Time!!!

Every morning my daughter wakes up and comes into our bedroom and climbs in bed with us and asks to cuddle. She always has a huge smile on her face, ready to greet the new day with excitement. She says "It's good morning time, mama! Can I have a drink and a snack please?"

I've never been a morning person, and it takes me an hour to really get functional after I wake up. But, I decided to start greeting the day with as much of a cheery attitude as she does , or at least try, and it really makes a difference to how my day is.

Starting your Day Out Right

A good morning routine is a great way to start your day, and implementing the CleanHome© Program. A good start to the day can leave you feeling charged and looking forward to the rest of the day. A bad morning can leave you rushed and stressed before you even get out the door!

The best way to start off your day, is to get enough sleep at night, so therefore, a good day really starts with your evening and bedtime routine, which you can read about on the Evening routine link to the side of the page when your done.

How many hours of sleep a night do you need? Make sure your going to bed at a time that gives you enough sleep in order to wake up not sleep deprived ( it's hard with little kids I know!!)

You can make your morning routine to suit how ever your days go. Planning ahead for your morning will lessen stress and rushing about to get things done. Have you ever noticed your day usually goes however your morning went?

It IS true that however you start your day is usually how your day will go. If you don’t stop, take some deep breaths and "reboot" your 'tude". That's why the quote, "Did you get up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?" even exists.

Do you work outside the home and need to get yourself and the kids ready for work and school? Then plan lunches and book bags as part of your routine the night before.

Lay out clothes for the kids, so they can be getting dressed while you are getting dressed or are deciding what you feel like wearing today. I don't lay out my clothes the night before for myself. I don't know how I feel until I get up that day, so I decide in the morning what I will wear from the clothes in my closet. I do lay out my undergarments and socks though.)

Do you walk the kids to school or are you a stay at home mom and the kids homeschool in their pyjamas? Plan your morning for these events. DO you have a hard time waking up in the morning and need an hour to just kind of stumble around and drink your coffee or tea before you plan to go anywhere or do anything? Get up an hour before everyone else and enjoy your quiet time to prepare yourself mentally.


Plan your morning to get up early enough so you can wake up feeling relaxed, and not stressed for time before needing to head out the door.

Have a decent breakfast, or if your not a breakfast type person and need a little while before you can eat, take a snack and drink with you if your on the go. Orange juice and a cereal bar are helpful for mid morning hunger before lunch when your on the go.

Do you like to exercise in the morning? Add that into your morning routine as well then. I know your thinking, "WHAT! Exercise!?! Is that part of CleanHome?!" Well, it is and it isn't. If you don't want to think about that right now, then don't. But taking care of your body by eating right and exercising is a good habit to get into. It helps keep you healthy and working at your best. It also helps boost your immune system, beat the blues and help you feel energetic. After breakfast, don't forget to soak those breakfast dishes or put them in the dish washer. If your heading out, getting dressed and on the go is next of course.

If you are based out of the house, getting your daily tasks and daily laundry started can be the next part of your morning. Throw in the laundry, and do one of your first tasks for the day. Swish and rinse the soaking breaskfast dishes and let them dry on the rack.

As your getting dressed for the day after your morning routine, why not take the extra minute to string on a new habit to your morning routine. Wipe down the counter and sink area, switch towels for the day if the hand towel is dirty, or give the toilet a quick swirl with the brush and flush. These kinds of quick things will really help make your maintenance jobs easier when they come up throughout the week.

Get a good start to your day with breaskfast, even a quick fruit smoothie or milkshake can help boost your energy. Being hungry in the morning can keep you sluggish.
