I’m glad I’m creative

Crochet, Crafts, sewing, cake decorating, home projects etc.

Because being poor and not creative would really be hell!

a lot of the stuff we have, are things we recycle, build fix.

This week I rescued an old dresser that is all busted up and was set to burn in a garbage pile at the dump. I saved it, and am currently re purposing it, into a garden arrangement. I’m painting it white, adding chicken wire to the top dressers on the front, filling it with dirt and going to grow flowers and herb out of it.

It’s going in my tea garden on the front of the house.

Also, today I salvaged a skid/pallet “shed” from the local hardware store. i think it had come with garden center supplies on it, and the local hotdog wagon vendor guy had put a roof on it to hold his supplies, and then dumped it off in the “free wood” pile near the store.

The kids saw it yesterday and mentioned it would make a cool clubhouse.

So today when I went into town, I took the trailer and grabbed it. it was HEAVY, and awkward to move around but I did it. it is now in the back yard waiting for some reinforcements, paint, and fixing up with other scrap wood, singles and windows etc, I have salvaged, or will in the near future.

Rural life was meant for me…this is ME, I am in my element when I’m doing this stuff :)

I’m pretty sure “rustic” as a decor, was invented by people with ADHD :)

I can’t wait to post pictures of the dresser, and show the ongoing progress of the clubhouse

PolarBear Amigarumi

Crochet, Crafts, sewing, cake decorating, home projects etc.

finally finished the amigarumi crochet polarbear for hubs. his legs are all longer than the other, and he sits lopsided, but oh well.

He’s still cute… AND i FINISHED a project. do you know WHAT kind of an ACCOMPLISHMENT that is for a person with ADHD?

Babyshower cake

Crochet, Crafts, sewing, cake decorating, home projects etc.

this is a baby shower cake I designed for my friend’s  sister’s baby shower. As always I stay up late and make the cake and then have to clean up my mess the next day…which I’m putting off today cause I have been feeling like crap emotionally all week. This cake is one of the highlights of my week.

Sometimes it is nice to be reminded of the things you are good at.

Building a Bench

Crochet, Crafts, sewing, cake decorating, home projects etc.

Stump Cover

Crochet, Crafts, sewing, cake decorating, home projects etc.

There is a stump in the front yard, from a huge tree that was long ago chopped down. Last year we talked about removing it, but it would take a lot of work, and make a huge hole. So I am instead making a rustic bench under the lilac tree. Inside the rustic twig fence I’ve been building.

When it is done it will be a nice spot to sit and chat and have a spot of tea, play the guitar, or stare at the neighbours. or sit with my wifi and blog/twitter/facebook/tumble

You know your old when

Crochet, Crafts, sewing, cake decorating, home projects etc.

you know you’re getting old when alcohol and crochet replace, sex drugs and rockn’roll on a Saturday night

up cycling american eagle turtleneck

Crochet, Crafts, sewing, cake decorating, home projects etc.

I took an american eagle outfitters turtleneck sweater and made it into a sweater dress for my 9 year old daughter.

It took less than 2 hours, a pair of scissors, 2 fitting on her in the process, and a crochet hook and some left over yarn.

She’s in fashion heaven. :) and for a few hours I’m the coolest crocheting mom in the world

The sweater was purchased as a bag sale from a local thrift store. a garbage bag of sweaters for $8.00

Crochet MP3 player case

Crochet, Crafts, sewing, cake decorating, home projects etc.

I’ve been searching EVERYWHERE for a case to hold my Mp3 player that is NOT an apple product. but they have basically got a monopoly on the market for mp3 holders.. all of which are made for the iPod nano, iPhones, and iPodTouch…none of which fit my Mp3 Player, which I LOVE…

Well all I can say is bite me Apple, cause iCrochet

Fish, ladybugs and cake

Crochet, Crafts, sewing, cake decorating, home projects etc.

A hobby i mentioned recently, cake decorating…( once was my profession)…this is a ladybug and daisies cake for my daughter’s 5th birthday…side view.. and yes I know it s crooked. it was a photography thing I did on purpose, not a lopsided cake. Hubby liked to pick on me about it.

The fish cake was for a friend’s then husband and his twin brother who like to fish. the fish was 3 dimentional, and was painted with icing for texture. a technique I started working with recently and really like.
